In the seminar, the complex concept of atmosphere in terms of space and form was explored. What do we mean by the atmosphere of a spatial situation? What physical and psychological factors define this? The investigation was carried out with spatial media as well as photography and film. For theoretical background the book »Atmosphere« by Gernot Böhme, among others, was discussed.

The photos “Saal 1” and “Saal 2” are troubling because the eye gets bored. The viewer cannot get lost in details, as the picture composition is characterised by clear lines and areas. The contrast between the aesthetics and strangeness of the subject creates a tension that unsettles the viewer.
